It was the film that made me think of film as an art form outside of just general entertainment. That films led me to watching a lot of films about the vastness of space and what usually leads is a humbling story about our humanity. This is exactly what Ad Astra is. This is a surprisingly small film. While its setting and production value is vast, its overall story is surprisingly intimate. This film is a giant existential crisis about who we are as people and the legacy we leave behind. While this film does take a similar route to other films about space exploration- it does so in Snoopy fairy light Christmas tree shirt more understated on Basset Trending shirt. This film is deliberately slow, quiet and meandering. It makes every moment feel so claustrophobic.

Yet, it’s emotionally claustrophobic this time. We see the character in this film and his journey through the whole thing. There isn’t a scene in this movie that doesn’t have Brad Pitt in it. After a while I felt as trapped as he was and that is a testament to the film. There’s Snoopy fairy light Christmas tree shirt on to chew here. Its spiritual journey in the way Tree of Life is but not quite that powerful. It focuses on self-discovery more than discovery of an entire theology. However- it does the trick. As a simple film with a character facing problems with heritage, this film is able to tell this story in a much larger and more engrossing way. This story and themes have been told countless of times, but the way the film is able to bring us into this world directly through the characters thoughts is what makes this an experience worth taking.

Beyond just that, this film is aesthetically spectacular. The use of color and space is just stunning and I could just get lost in it. There’s Snoopy fairy light Christmas tree shirt set piece that takes place on the Moon that’s one of the coolest sequences of film I’ve seen so far this year. My only big issue with the film is that there is a lot of exposition. Since we hear the internal monologue of Brad Pitts character the film can sometimes over explain stuff to us and tell us how to feel because the film hasn’t clearly expressed that feeling onscreen. Especially towards its 2nd half the film finds its own identity and is able to have silent moments that are moving and harrowing without it explained to us.
